What to Do with God’s Word
James 1:22-25

1. Receive it with meekness. (James 1:21)

§ Meekness: humility, resignation, submission to the will of God; opposite of pride and arrogance

§ The word is quick and powerful, it has the force and the authority of the Spirit of God behind it, it tells the truth when we won’t, it is faithful even when we’re not.

§ 1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

§ Isa 61:1 “the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek”

2. Let it dwell in you richly. (Col 3:16)

• Dwell: to continue, to be fixed in attention
• Protects you from sin.
• Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
• Helps you get your prayers answered.
• John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
• Equips you to overcome evil.
• 1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

3. Obey it faithfully. (Josh 1:8-9)

4. Teach it with authority. (Matt 7:24-29)
