What Must I Do To Be Saved? Jesus answered and said unto him, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 There are a lot of mixed signals out there in terms of salvation. Paul was concerned that the Corinthians would have their minds “corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (2 Cor 11:3).” The simplicity that is in Christ is the fact that salvation is not in a prayer, an experience, the performance of good works, or the observation of ordinances. Salvation is in a person. Jesus himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).” It is by Jesus’ blood that our sins are forgiven, and it is by his perfect sacrifice that we are made acceptable in the sight of God. According to the Bible, the situation is as follows: Man has a Problem: As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. (Rom 3:10) For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Rom 3:23)

Death is the Penalty: The wages of sin is death. (Rom 6:23a) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire, this is the second death. ( Rev 20:14) Christ made the Payment: The gift of God is eternal life. (Rom6:23b) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom 5:8) The Scripture contains the Plan: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Rom 10:9) When Paul and Silas were in Prison in Phillipi an earthquake freed them from their chains and opened the prison doors for them to go free. When the Phillipian Jailor saw that his prisoners would go free he was going to fall on his sword and kill himself. Before he could take his own life Paul cried out, “Do thyself no harm: for we are all here (Acts 16:28).” When the jailor realized what had taken place he fell down at the feet of Paul and Silas and asked one of the greatest questions in the Scripture, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Their answer may surprise you. They said simply, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house (Acts 16:31).” Have you ever believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and been born again? You can. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Romans 10:13 promises, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Pray a prayer something like this, from your heart: Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you died on the cross and rose from the grave three days later to give me eternal life. I know that I’m a sinner, and that I need you as my Saviour. I receive you by faith as my Saviour. Please come into my heart and save me now. In your name I pray. Amen. If you’ve prayed that prayer from your heart, you’re a brand new creature now (2 Cor 5:17). Please let us know so that we can pray for you and provide you with some material that will help you in your new walk with Jesus.
