After several years of hard work on the part of liberal politicians, Congress has finally managed to pass hate crimes legislation that will provide special protection for Sodomites. I’ve made mention of the Matthew Shepherd Act in a couple of sermons over the last year or so, and commented on how this takes us one step closer to the prosecution of Bible-believing preachers for preaching on sin. The House has at last succeeded in getting this Act passed as an attachment to a Defense Policy Bill. I’m not sure what homosexuals have to do with outfitting our military and protecting our nation. For the time being the legislation is supposed to be limited to the prosecution of those who cause “bodily injury” to someone on the basis of sexual orientation. But of course this is just one more step in making those who practice gross iniquity in to a socially acceptable ”people group”. This country is in trouble.
In “unrelated” news, Martin Luther King Jr.’s money-hungry kids are fighting over who can speak on behalf of his estate to give permission for the production of a major biopic of their father’s life. It was following his assasination that federal “hate crimes” legislation was birthed. It is interesting to see the character of these who require special “civil rights” (Laodicea) constantly manifested in the most embarassing ways.

We live in a culture where real common sense is rare. Clear thinking is stifled by political correctness, and even those sources that we would deem to be uncommonly sensible are rarely Biblically influenced. It can be draining to constantly encounter Christians that don’t think like Christians. I’m not suggesting that I’ve got everything figured out, I certainly don’t. However, I hope that the Bible has had enough influence on my worldview that the status quo conception of anything (be it politics, child-rearing, money management, et al) is radically different than what’s running through my own head. It’s a blessing to me to come accross somebody that actually “gets it”. Someone that’s not only free from the shackles of political correctness and public opinion, but someone whose entire worldview has been fashioned and fomulated by meaningful and consistent exposure to the word of God. One of the best books I’ve ever read was called “Created For His Pleasure”. This book is by Dr. Samuel Gipp. Bro. Gipp is an evangelist that lives on the road preaching all around the country. Lord willing he’ll be with us in 2011. Bro. Gipp puts out a regular prayer letter along with what he calls “Letter from a Friend” and “Essays and Ideas”. If you’d like a breath of fresh common sense you might want to check out these features on his website at www.samgipp.com. In this months “Essays and Ideas” he provides an eloquent paper on how the president is a narcissist! Disclaimer: If you are a committed Democrat (or even a Republican) this might make you mad.

All my life, I’ve grown up in “the Bible-belt”. Many of us wouldn’t know any better, for lack of ever leaving “the Bible-belt”, but there are few places in the world where you actually find a church on every corner and professing Christians in every segment of public life. I am truly thankful for the privelege to grow up in this heavily “Christainized” part of the world. I think it spared me many off-the-wall religious and political concepts before I was really able to process them. When I went to college for a short time I was confronted with a great deal of those off-the-wall ideas, and for as ignorant as I was (and am) as to how to answer all of those philosophies I atleast had a good eighteen years worth of some Bible truth in the foundations of my world-view. In case you didn’t know, liberalism, humanism, and paganism are closing in on the deep South and this Satanic attack is slowly, but surely, dismantling the Bible part of “the Bible belt”, and it will ultimately steal the souls of many of our publicly educated “Christian” young people. This is well illustrated by the recent lawsuit filed by the ACLU against the principal of Pace High School and the former Superintendent of Schools in Santa Rosa County (check here for details). Without a debate of what did and didn’t happen and the constitutional ramifications of the whole thing, it’s a bit surreal to think that this is even an issue so close to home. But it is. And things are bound to get worse. Evolution is common in the classrooms of our local schools and false views of God and His Son abound everywhere. What does it all mean? I’m not sure, but one thing is for sure, we Southerners are no longer exempt from many aspects of “the course of this world” that we’ve been sheltered from for so long.

In the upcoming Congress we will likely see a concerted effort to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in order to bring the United States into compliance with international law as it pertains to “children’s rights”.
This week Owen has gotten two spankings. They weren’t horrid and frightful events. They were necessary exercises of correction. Such occurences are more common than I’d like (Owen is a bit stronger-willed than my other two have been), but they are not tramatic and they are not abusive. If the CRC is ratified I would likely lose this reasonable right, and my disciplinary methods would be subject to the scrutiny of foreign humanists.
Earlier this week Kelly had to reprove Taylor for going further away from the house than she was comfortable with, without mentioning to her where he would be playing. Under the UN policy that will be under consideration by our own governmental leaders, Taylor could potentially appeal to the government for a review of the unfavorable (in his own mind) decision that his mother made.
Noah has been told twice today that he may not play an educational game on the computer that he had asked about. Under the CRC this could be a violation of his right to leisure (no I’m not kidding), and if believed by a social worker to be in Noah’s best interest, my decision may be overridden to allow him to play the game (after all, it was educational).
All of this sounds insane, and it is. Someone has said, “Truth is always scarier than fiction” and this latest effort by the one-worlders is nothing less than frightening. It could mean the end of our right to home-educate, and it could ultimately mean the end of our rights as parents to provide religious instruction to our children based on our own Biblical convictions.
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. Isaiah 3:12
According to Edward Gibbon in his Magnus Opus, The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire, the number one reason for the fall of Rome was the undermining of the home which is the basis of the rest of society. I’m upset about the coldblooded murder of unborn children. I’m disgusted by the disregard for traditional marriage and the acceptance of homosexuality. I’m saddened by the rampant rate of divorce in our country. I’m most of all disappointed by the spiritual decline of the church. When you consider all of that, the only thing this country has going for it is a handful of Christians still raising their children according to Bible prinicples. When that “right” is taken away, where does that leave a nation?
In the Bible the parents are the one’s with the rights. Children have the right to live a long life if they obey their parents (Eph 6:1-3).
If you’re curious abou the Convention on the Rights of the Child you can “google” it or visit .

That’s what Peter said to do. And believe it or not the guy who was in power when he wrote those words was one of the most tyrannical, God-defying, Christ-hating rulers to ever live (check out the history of Nero and his persecution of the church in the first century). It’s official, come January Barack Obama is my president. That’s right. I’m a citizen of the United States of America and the states of this union have elected him to lead our nation. I didn’t vote for him, but most Americans that voted did (an overwhelming majority by the way). But I’m not going to pout over things not going my way, I will try to honour (Lord help me) President Obama. With that said, I’ve got a few thoughts on the recent election.
For starters, Barack Obama is not the antichrist so just relax. He is definitely a liberal, he is not a Christian (I don’t care what he says), and he is probably a Muslim (I guess we’ll find out), but he is not Satan incarnate. There are some that seem especially fearful (1 John 4:18) that there are hard days ahead for the church (persecution, etc.). I don’t look forward to that and I have concerns for my children if that day comes, but at the same time that is probably exactly what spoiled rotten American Christians could use: a little persecution. It did wonders for the early church (Acts 4,8).
On another note, something that made me cringe as the election neared were the constant Christian-celebrity talking heads and circulating e-mails that demanded we all hit our knees trusting that if we would just pray hard enough that God would somehow “fix the numbers”, “rig the election”, or make all of the Obama supporters sick on election-day. Maybe somebody forgot to pray… or vote. I’m in favor of prayer (Luke 18:1). And by the way I’m in favor of voting (Luke 17:1). But God “removeth kings and setteth up kings” (Dan 2:21). He’s got an agenda several thousand years in the making that most Christians know nothing about and your “Nehemiah prayer” isn’t going to be the one that puts that agenda on hold (so the party of your choice can keep on spending billions of dollars that they don’t have while lying about being “conservative”). We might should have tried obeying what the Bible says about prayer and government over the last eight years (1 Tim 2:1-2). By the way that prayer is for those who are in authority and the prayer centers around them leaving us alone! When we suddenly muster all the prayers of the church with the confidence that “we can change this thing” only to lose the election by nearly 8 million votes we look like a bunch of fools and drag the precious and holy name of Jesus Christ with us. That kind of presumption is the same thing about televangelists that makes all of us want to puke.
This election has seen our country not only get what we deserve, but what we wanted (and don’t try to opt out of being an American just because the results don’t suit you). I don’t intend to “speak evil of dignities” (2 Pet 2:10), but I’m thankful to still have the constitutional right to tell the truth about the “double-minded” (James 1:8) “fools” (Prov 12:15) that elected those “dignities”. In California and Florida hundreds and hundreds of thousands of stupid Americans voted for a scriptural definition of marriage for their respective constitutions at the same time that they voted for a President that defies that same position. Sometimes God gives wicked people exactly what they want. This election is a great example of that.
Well, I thought I might preach on how pathetic America is, but thank the Lord for “blogs”… I think I’ve gotten it out of my system. Me and my family are going to pray for President Obama and (Lord help me) try to honour him (1 Pet 2:17). We’re also going to count our blessings for the privilege to live in this great country, pathetic as it may be. I know one thing, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. Well there is one other place…
Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
