Outreach Updates

Posted in Outreach at 8:34 am by Administrator

On March 22nd we had about 20 folks from our church come out to help with the Little Leage Softball Outreach. This was a follow-up to our Baseball Outreach earlier in the month. We had the privelege of preaching to and then feeding about 45 softball players from the Little League participants to the Community College team.

This past Saturday we conducted our first Community Invite Outreach in preparation for Easter Sunday. We had 30 souls come out and help with this effort. We broke up in to teams and placed bags on around 300-400 door knobs in our community. In each gospel bag was a gospel sermon booklet, a Chick tract, a John/Romans scripture portion, and a postcard invitation to the Easter service. There were a number of churches in the area that conducted a similar outreach and we praise God to see local churches actually “Go”ing in to our Jerusalem and “compelling them to come in.”

Taylor’s Birthday Flight

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:09 pm by Administrator

My oldest son, Taylor, turns 9 this week and in honor of his special day we made arrangements to go on an airplane ride. Taylor didn’t know what the surprise was until we were on our way to the airport. Bro. Freddie was kind enough to take us up and show us a bird’s eye view of Brewton  (a very unique perspective). Taylor even got to handle the controls for a while. It was a great time and the most fun “birthday surprise” that I can remember (for Taylor and Dad).Taylor and DadRoger that

Our Faith Promise Missions Conference is the most important meeting that we host all year. This is when our hearts are most stirred for worldwide evangelism and when we’re challenged to do our part in fulfilling the great commission by communicating financially with the gospel need around the world. At present, we’re closing in on this special time of the year and our family is doing what we can to prepare for the meeting. I was thinking about a way to prepare a special offering for the meeting when Taylor mentioned the idea of putting together a Missions Box, like a household Joash chest, in which we’ll place extra cash and spare change in between now and the missions conference. The boys decorated it and we’re looking forward to filling it up in between now and the conference. If you like the idea, why not do a family devotion on giving to missions and develop one of your own?

Baseball Outreach Update

Posted in Outreach at 10:51 am by Administrator

Yesterday we helped to sponsor a Little League Baseball clinic in conjuction with the East Brewton Little League and the JDCC Baseball teams. The EB Little League hosted the event, the JDCC Baseball team under the leadership of Coach Darrell Blevins conducted the clinic, and Ridge Road Baptist Church provided a meal, distributed gospel goody bags, and had the opportunity to preach the gospel to the ballplayers and their parents. The clinic was broken down in to two parts by age, the first being the younger group of children ages 5-8, and the second group made up of 9-12 year olds. There was a tremendous turn out and a tremendous open door to preach the gospel to those in attendance. We got to preach to the 140 or so ballplayers that came out as well as many of their parents and coaches along with the whole JDCC Baseball team. Everyone was extremely attentive and the gospel message went forth with clarity. We were able to put a bag in to the hand of each ballplayer in which was deposited a John/Romans scripture portion, a sermon book on Christianity, a chick tract, an Easter invitation, some trading cards and a small toy. We had over twenty volunteers from Ridge Road on hand to support the effort. It was a great success and we thank God for the privilege to represent the Lord Jesus Christ in our community. Praise the Lord.
