The Road To Glory Radio Broadcast Programming Schedule
Monday through Friday on WTJT 90.1 FM from 8:15 – 8:30 AM
Monday through Friday on WEBJ 1240 AM from 7:00 – 7:15 AM
As of the first Monday in February, the Ridge Road Baptist Church radio outreach, the Road to Glory Radio Broadcast, has a new station and a new time; actually two new stations and times. The church’s will was to transition from 90.1 FM in Brewton to the Christian radio station in Baker, Florida, WTJT 90.1 FM. The new station gets great reception well in to Brewton and a good bit of the current area that we were covering on 90.9, and stretches further South toward Crestview, DeFuniak, and Ft. Walton Beach. The new time is 8:15 AM, Monday through Friday and we’re looking forward to what the Lord will do with our programming on the new station and time. On the same day that the broadcast goes on the air on WTJT we’ll begin broadcasting again on WEBJ 1240 AM weekdays at 7:00 AM. We felt like this would be a great time to step out on faith (and that’s precisely what we’ve done) and expand the radio ministry. The Road to Glory Broadcast will replace the long-running Church of Christ program on WEBJ. We’ll be airing the same programming each day on both stations, but we’ll certainly be reaching two different listening audiences. Please pray that the Lord might bless this expansion, and as you have the chance tune in yourself for a blessing.
Note: If you live outside the listening area you may access the WTJT website at http://wtjt901fm.com/ and tune in for a live internet stream of the program.

1. Immediate (Unquestioning) Obedience (Eph 6:1-3)
All of us have had the painful experience of getting behind a mother in the grocery store telling the toddler (or adolescent!) in the buggy not to touch that twenty times. This is probably the rule rather than the exception. For some reason, we have forgotten that it is not reasonable for an adult to argue with a four-year old over anything. Children should be trained to obey, and to obey immediately. There could come a day when their life depends on immediate, unquestioning obedient, but whether the situation is life or death, this kind of obedience is what the scripture sets forth and a proper expectation. Disobedience is rebellion (1 Sam 15:23) and it should be rooted out at the earliest age possible.
2. Absolute Honesty (Ps 58:3)
We are surrounded by a culture that promotes American legalese above Bible Christianity. In such culture, “minor untruths” and “white lies” are perfectly acceptable as long as you don’t get caught. If you believe the Bible, you know that the Devil is the father of lies (John 8:44). The common adult practice of lying to the Boss, the IRS, the Pastor, the wife, etc. usually begins with lying to the teacher, the coach, or the parent, and sadly enough, a great deal of this goes on with the knowledge (and even endorsement) of one or both parents. Such a practice will breed instability in every relationship that child will ever be a part of. Our children should be taught to “put away lying” (Eph 4:25); and they ought to reminded that God said that “all liars have their part in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone” (Rev 21:8).
3. Put the Needs of Others First (Phil 2:1-4)
This is the proper measure of maturity in a well-developed society. Fathers put the needs of their families first; mothers meet the needs of their children before their own, etc. Our children ought to be held to a similar standard of maturity. Their lusts should not dictate the needs and overall program of the family. Their selfish desires should not dictate the ministry of a church. They ought to be taught that the needs of the team, the company, or the company are greater than their own.
4. Genuine Appreciation (1 Thess 5:18)
My generation is eaten up with a sense of entitlement and younger generations are growing progressively worse. Your children should be taught that they are not owed anything. Children should be steered away from being so picky. It should be second nature to say “Thank you”, and it should be heart felt at that.
5. Earn their Keep (Gal 4:1)
It is not some form of psychological abuse to expect children to pitch in with the work load in the home. What is abusive is to never expect children to do anything in the home and then thrust them in to the world expecting them to have the capacity to make their own way. The Bible declares that “it is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth” (Lam 3:27). The not so uncommon sight of Mom at the sink, Dad on the lawn mower, and the kids on the couch is a perfect shame to Bible Christianity. Children should reasonably be expected to pull their weight and earn their keep in the home.
6. Do their Best (Col 3:23)
Be it in school, in sports, in relationships, and most certainly in church, children should be expected to their absolute best every time. If a child’s best is a “C” is a challenging subject, he should be congratulated. If a child’s best is an “A+” and he brings home a “B” he should be reproved. Solomon said it best when he said, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…” (Eccl 9:10). It is never too much to ask a child to do his best.
7. Espouse Your Religious Convictions (Ps 78:1-8)
If you have arrived at your religious and spiritual convictions intelligently and believe them to be correct you should have every expectation that your children might share those same convictions. No parent that believes in a literal, burning hell would want to raise a child that didn’t. It is our duty to pass along our intelligently held religious beliefs, and it proper to expect our children to espouse those same beliefs. We ought to have a desire to see our children excel us in spiritual matters.
Proper Expectations for Ourselves as Parents: If we’re going to set forth some reasonable expectations for our children, we should certainly have some reasonable expectations for our influence as parents. The truth is that our children will generally mirror our priorities, reproduce our work ethic, and they will likely do in excess the things we do in moderation. Most daunting of all, our children will largely take their conception of God and Christianity from us. God is all-powerful and we should be a consistent source of strength to our children. God is all-knowing and we should be a faithful source of guidance for our children. God is sinless and benevolent, and we should express His goodness in relating to our own children.
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. (Prov 10:28)

You may have heard about the Focus on the Family Super Bowl ad that has liberals and feminists so bent out of shape. It features Heisman Trophy winner, Tim Tebow and his mother. Mrs. Tebow was encouraged to abort baby Tim due to complications with her pregnancy, but needless to say, she refused the medical advice in favor of obeying God and she’s never been sorry she did. If I was going to spend millions for ad time during the Super Bowl I would emphasize the gospel instead of the pro-life agenda, but you have to admit, Tim Tebow is a simple and salient living example of why choosing life is the right thing to do. The real comedy of the whole matter is the response that this ad is garnering from the left. Of course there is certainly no outcry over the advertisement of alcohol that destroys thousands of families every year. There’s no protest over the nakedness that is sure to be featured on the sideline (cheerleaders) and in the commercials. To any sound mind, such nakedness obviously degrades women. But the feminists that have so effectively destroyed America are out in force to put a stop to the airing of this pro-life ad. Here’s the quote of the week from Jemhu Greene, president of the Women’s Media Center, “An ad that uses sports to divide rather than to unite has no place in the biggest national sports event of the year — an event designed to bring Americans together.” Is the Super Bowl designed to bring people together? Let’s put a random selection of Colts fans in a room with a random selection of Saints fans and I’m sure we’d all be inspired by the sense of togetherness. Wait, here’s a better quote of the week from yours truly, “You’d have to be an idiot to be a feminist.”

Thankfully many of the families in our church still haven’t “gotten over” our family revival from last year preached by Pastor Ron Ralph. Just this week I’ve had two people mention their listening to these messages over again. It is great material and we can make the cds available any time. But I thought I’d pass along a way to obtain more of this good material. The sermons that we heard over the course of our week long revival in 2009 were developed from a series that Bro. Ron preached in Sunday School at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Bro. Rick Owens of “Revival on Wheels” has made this series available in its entirety in .mp3 format on his website. I’ve been going back through these recordings lately for my own edification. According to Bro. Rick it changed his marriage, and no doubt, any one that will avail himself to this material with an open-heart will get a much needed blessing. You can download these messages on the family at www.revivalonwheels.com under “Audio Sermons” at the bottom of the page. By the way, if you know of anyone that makes their living driving a truck, Revival on Wheels is a great trucker ministry that makes live preaching by doctrinally sound preachers available at designated times during the week over the phone. Check out the ministry at the above link.

I have long thought that every Christian should avail himself to Kent Hovind’s “Creation Seminar” (available at www.drdino.com). These seven or so dvds will thoroughly arm believers with the science as well as the scripture to take a stand for a literal six-day creation. There are also a host of excellent creation resources available from Ken Ham’s “Answers in Genesis” ministry. If you’re seeking to inform your children on the issue of creationism and warn them of the dangers of Darwinism the best sources will be those that begin from a Biblical viewpoint and assess the science through the lens of scripture. That being said, I recently viewed the documentary “Expelled” by Ben Stein (an unsaved Jew) and I must say, I thought it was a great video on intelligent design and the conspiracy within mainstream “science” (1 Tim 6:20) to silence the scientific support of special creation. Ben Stein also did a tremendous job annunciating the dangers of Darwinian Evolution. The whole documentary is worth viewing just to see famed atheist Richard Dawkins, author of “The God Delusion”, scramble when confronted with the possibility of intelligent design. His response is priceless. I don’t recommend too many movies, but I think everybody educated in the public school system or with any exposure to secular “higher education” should avail themselves to this film.

All eyes are on the unimaginable suffering in Haiti as a result of the powerful earthquake that recently struck there. As the relief effort begins, appeals for financial help abound as the price tag of the destruction is tallied. Every humanitarian organization under the sun will have their hand out, and no doubt it will take a lot of money to treat the many wounded and relieve the families of the deceased, not to mention to begin to rebuild the infrastructure that nature has demolished. If you’re considering contributing to this effort as many Americans will I’d encourage you to do it through somebody that knows and will share the gospel as they put the financial relief to work. The following e-mail was sent out by Pastor Tim Fellure of the Victory Baptist Church in Milton, Florida:
“Bro. Jacques Alexandre is a native Haitian working out of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Arlington, TX. He was just recently in our church in December and touched our hearts with the reports of the ministry God has given him. He is training national pastors, has several children’s homes in Port-au-Prince, and is helping start churches in remote regions of Haiti. Bro. Alexandre and his family survived the earthquake but their ministry has suffered devastating losses. I spoke to his pastor, Bro. Robin Webb, yesterday and he is planning on flying down as soon as flights are available. They will be trying to raise funds for supplies and to help this missionary help his people. We took an offering last night for them and are asking for financial help for Bro. Alexandre. You can find out more about his ministry at www.jesussaveshaiti.org. You can contact his pastor, Bro. Robin Webb, for more information on how you can help at www.tabernaclebaptist-arlington.org or 817-460-4909. To send support, please send it to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2500 W. Randol Mill Arlington, Texas 76012.”
So there are the details on how you can communicate with the tremendous humanitarian need in Haiti while providing for an even greater need than the physical suffering on every hand: the need for Christ among the lost.

Nobody with a remotely functional conscience has any trouble seeing the demonic roots of most of the vampire movies that pepper the shelves of movie rental stores, yet Twilight (the movie) has been deemed by some as being “family-friendly” since it avoided fowl language and extreme sexual content. Perhaps Hollywood is growing more wholesome. Whether or not you have a conscience, common-sense will debunk that possibility. The fact is that the devil is getting better and better at going undercover in these last days. Perhaps there has never been a better example than these Twilight books (and their “good” vampires) of Satan being “transformed in to an angel of light” (2 Cor 11:14). Twilight is accomplishing for the satanic practice of vampirism what Harry Potter has so effectively accomplished for witchcraft: bringing the practice in to the mainstream, minimizing its dangers, glorifying its power and pleasure, and ultimately desensitizing an entire culture to something that is utterly satanic in origin. These latest efforts by the enemy have been incredibly effective, to the extent that undiscerning and unsuspecting parents are actually putting these books in to the hands of our youth. Authors like Meyer and Rowling are, in turn, depositing the seeds of demonism in to these impressionable minds. As for the “Christian” adults that are wrapped up in such books, it is simply a testimony of a Laodicean church that quit reading the word of God and let the television establish their moral standards and undermine their religious convictions.

Blood Lust
In First Timothy chapter four “doctrines of devils” are associated with commanding people to abstain from meats (v. 3). In the New Testament there is actually just one prohibition in diet set forth by the scriptures and that is blood (Acts 15:20). This isn’t limited to the New Testament either. It is so uniformly abominable in the sight of God that it is the outstanding prohibition found before the law (Gen 9:4), under the law (Lev 7:23-24), and after the law. To make light of something that God so clearly abhors, as vampirism does with the consumption of blood, is folly at least and blasphemy at worst. The vampire family that is central in the Twilight saga has such respect for human life that they feast on animals only, but this is a far-cry from justification of these novels if we take a Biblical world-view.
Appointed to Die
Bella (the main non-vampire character) is so smitten with Edward (the kind and chivalrous blood-sucker) that she’s prepared to give him her soul by submitting to his bite so that they might spend eternity together (Edward is a youthful 107 years old). The whole concept of some creature under a curse to live endlessly feasting upon blood is not only evil from the blood lust standpoint, but makes a mockery of the curse of sin as found in the Bible. The curse of sin in the Bible means death (Rom 6:23), and after that death, the judgment (Heb 9:27).
Angels that Sinned
Twilight is essentially a love story; a love story involving a teenage girl and a vampire and all the drama such a relationship entails. Relations between satanically inspired immortals and fair daughters of men actually represents an ancient story-line dating all the way back to Genesis six. It impressed the Lord so much the first time this hellish plot was fleshed-out that God destroyed the earth with a flood.
The Spirit of Antichrist
When the average mind thinks of an anti-Christ character they might call up thoughts of Hitler or some horned, pitch-fork toting caricature from the pits of hell. The Biblical reality is that anti-Christ doesn’t simply denote against-Christ, but “in the place of” Christ, in other words, something dramatically similar, yet false. Edward comes on the scene with a host of characteristics that are far from what we might typically think of when we consider vampires. He’s described by readers as being kind, considerate, loving, generous, and thoughtful (so many of the things that married readers realize their spouses aren’t). But he’s a vampire none the less. When the Man of Sin is manifested in world-wide politics the scriptures tell us that he “by peace shall destroy many” (Dan 8:25). What I’m saying here is that the central vampire character in the Twilight book is amazingly “Christ-like”. Unfortunately for the thousands of ladies that are enamored by his character traits, he is not “the Lord’s Christ” (Luke 2:26). While Edward might be able to discern the thoughts of those around him (Luke 5:22, 6:8), and exercise other apparently divine qualities (such as super strength and speed) he has only the power to destroy Bella’s soul, while Jesus Christ came to seek and to save the lost souls of men, women, and naïve teenage girls.

Stephanie Meyer, reared a Latter-Day Saint (Mormon) strangely enough, relates that the Twilight books originated in a very vivid dream that she had (that left her desiring to stay in bed rather than care for her three children). Here’s a scriptural red-flag before you read the first word of any of the books. The word of God warns us of false dreamers: “Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams…” (Jer 23:27). Meyer’s dream has served to cause many Christians to forget what God thinks of those sins so commonly associated with vampires (i.e. witchcraft, divination, necromancy, etc.) (Deut 18:10-11). In the books Edward’s sister, Alice, has the ability to “divine” or see in to the future, and Stephanie Meyer’s dream has become nothing less than a prophetic vision given the success of her books. Believer’s are instructed to bring “every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor 10:3), not that Meyer, a backslidden Mormon, is a believer. Given the content and the success of these books and their leavening affect upon the minds of so many people one must wonder what, or rather who, exactly inspired this dream of hers. Meyer states on her official website that as she prepared to write the first book following her fateful dream that “Bella and Edward were, quite literally, voices in my head” (emphasis mine). The first book in the series has an apple on the front, imagery that she admittedly chose because of its association with the forbidden fruit. I wonder if the same voice that spoke to Eve has any relation to the voices in Meyer’s head?

This will be the introductory post, to be followed by three more entries, regarding a Biblical view of the wildly popular “Twilight Series”:
The pop culture obsession with the Twilight Series and its chic brand of teenie-bopper vampirism has swept the country. I am generally altogether ignorant of such fads and rarely take an interest in learning about them since I realize “the fashion of this world passeth away” (1 Cor 7:31). Yet, I must admit that I am concerned with the reality that this odd obsession has so commonly crept in to the minds and hearts of so many professing Christians. News of these books being devoured on breaks at home school co-op outings, propagated abroad in Christian schools, allegorized in the youth devotions of liberal churches, and strangest of all, commonly read among church-members of conservative, even fundamental, churches, is disconcerting to say the least. Christians have always understood vampirism and its accompanying sub-culture to be anti-biblical and even demonic. To believe that these books and the circulation they have had among many church-goers has had a neutral spiritual impact would be naïve at best. As Christian families have sacrificed the “good book” for the “boob tube” spiritual discernment has taken a nose-dive among American Christians over the past one-hundred years that the debate over the appropriateness of reading fiction by Bible-believing youngsters (once a hot-button question in many Christian circles) has given-way to whether or not teenage-vampires are harmless enough fiction for the consumption of the Christian masses.
