The Secret to Living the Christian Life (Rom 6:1-16)
1. (v. 6) Know. To be fully assured of a fact.
We’re assured that: A. Old man is crucified. B. Body of sin destroyed. C. Not serve sin.

2 Corinthians 13:5
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Thomas Edison stated that, “We do not know one-millionth of one percent about anything. We don’t know what light is, we do not know what water is, we do not know what electricity is, we do not know what gravity is, we don’t know anything about magnetism. We have a lot of hypothesis, but that is all.
2. (v. 11) Reckon. To act upon a fact (e.g. I’m hungry so I reckon I’m gonna go get something to eat.), to consider it (e.g. Well I reckon he go himself a new truck.), to depend upon it instead of on feelings.

When we are crucified with Christ it is not our life that is resurrected, our life has no resurrection power, it was Christ that was resurrected and we are in Christ.

A corpse can’t sin.
3. (v.13) Yield. To give up, to surrender, to submit.
God isn’t interested so much in how talented, or intelligent, or qualified you be for his service, God is interested in those who are available.
We have a throne at the center of our hearts and someone is always seated their.
Our yield (John 15:5) will be directly related to our yieldedness.
4. (v. 16) Obey. To put instructions into effect, to comply with, to trust.
a. obey the gospel. b. put away lying, wrath, malice, c. separated from the world,
d. redeem the time, e. love one another, f. bear one anothers burdens, g. put on armour,
h. honour Father and Mother, i. love your wife, j. submit to husbands, k. put on new man,
l. serve _________?
John Wesley put on his private seal the three words “Believe-Obey-Love.” These words not only summarize Wesley’s experience, but really indicate the secret to victorious life. To truly believe in the Cross of Christ marks the beginning. Love is the climax. But Obey hold the others together through life. There can be no progress of faith without obedience.
